Neetu Chandra who made her Bollywood debut with the 2005 film, ‘Garam Masala’ made a shocking revelation and said that she was supposed to play the lead role in Aanand L Rai’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ however, she was replaced by Kangana Ranaut by R.Madhavan’s recommendation. Yes, you read that right!
In an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Neetu spoke on how she was replaced in the film, “I’m talking about Madhavan. He said, ‘There was another actress who was signed for Tanu Weds Manu, but I recommended Kangana’s name’,” Neetu told Bollywood Hungama, adding, “That actress was me, the one who had signed Tanu Weds Manu earlier.”
Further, she said that she was removed from 6 movies in the past as no one would pick her call nor calls her. When questioned on why she did not continue if she had been signed already, to which, she said, “How do you continue? Do you think it depends on me if I want to continue the project? For any reason, if the director thinks that the hero is recommending somebody else… I don’t come from the sort of background where I can (stand my ground). I’m helpless.”
Lastly, the actress said that she holds no grudges towards anyone as it is chalked down to ‘destiny.’
On the work front, she was last seen in the 2017 Tamil movie ‘Brahma.com’ and now, she will be marking her Hollywood debut with ‘Never Back Down: Revolt’ directed by Kellie Madison and written by Audrey Arkins.
