Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has been the centre of attention ever since he won the elusive medal at the Tokyo Olympics. But looks like exertion has taken a toll on his health. The dashing javelin thrower had to leave his welcome ceremony in Panipat midway due to a high fever on Tuesday. He was soon rushed to a hospital in Panipat.
According to a report by Times Now, the 23-year-old had a fever when he joined the rest of the Indian contingent at Independence Day. But he had tested negative for Covid-19 a few days back. At the ceremony in Panipat, Chopra got down from the stage due to fever. He was taken to a hospital immediately after he complained of his sickness.
The report further added, Chopra’s friends and family confirmed that he was under the weather during the ceremony. He was part of a car rally from Delhi to Panipat on Tuesday since the morning. The journey of approximately six hours probably took a toll on his health.
Neeraj Chopra had bagged the gold in the recently held Tokyo Olympics in the javelin throw. Since his return to the nation, the 23-year-old Haryana-born athlete has been receiving a hero’s welcome.
