NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad’s bodyguard has tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday as per a report in the Mumbai Mirror. A few days back, the Maharashtra Housing Minister quarantined himself at his residence after coming in contact with a COVID-19 infected cop.
On Tuesday, 14 of Awhad’s contacts came out to be positive for the virus, including five bodyguards and a cook.
According to the Thane Municipal Corporation, the other people who have tested positive include a TV journalist from Thane, his cameraman, three constables, and several NCP workers. Also, NCP Thane President Anand Paranjape tested positive for coronavirus today.
On Wednesday, Awhad took to his Twitter handle and rubbished the rumours of being infected. He also shared his coronavirus test reports.
He said he is ‘fit and fine’ and ‘working on streets’.

Meanwhile, hours after PM Narendra Modi announced the extension of nationwide lockdown till May 3, hundreds of migrant workers gathered near Bandra station in Mumbai to return home.
