National shooting championship: Mehuli Ghosh claims four gold; Anjum Moudgil wins 10m air rifle
Bengal’s Mehuli Ghosh claimed four gold medals, while Anjum Moudgil continued her impressive run with another gold in the 10m air rifle event of the 62nd National Shooting Championship on Monday.
Continuing her impressive performance from the 50m air rifle gold medal victory, Anjum shot 249.1m in the final round to clinch the top honours, while Jasmine Kaur of the same state coming second with a score of 247.9. Kavi Rakshana of Tamil Nadu settled for the bronze with a 226.0 effort in the final round.
Meanwhile, Ghosh claimed four gold medals including the junior and youth women’s 10m air rifle individual and team event where she shot 249.1m and 253m to emerge victorious.
Punjab were also victorious in the women’s junior double trap event with Prabsukhman Kaur (84) and Pravjot Kaur Panesar (66) claiming the gold and silver respectively. They along with Hitasha also won the team double trap event.
It was, however, disappointment for Olympian Apurvi Chandela, who topped the qualifying charts but came fourth in the individual event. A gold in the team event alongside Shriyanka Sadangi and Gayatri Pawaskar somewhat decreased the grief of missing an individual medal.
Asian Games medallist Shardul Vihan joined hands with Ahvar Rizvi and Md. Asab to win gold in both the junior and senior double trap team events for Uttar Pradesh.
