Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at Congress and said the national security and defence sector were a punching bag or a funding source for the opposition.
“For the Congress, national security and the defence sector is either a punching bag or a funding source,” Modi said during an interaction with Tamil Nadu party workers via video conferencing from the national capital.
Modi alleged that the opposition leaders make fun of the surgical strike on the one hand and on the other hand, the defence sector was looted by them since the 1940s. The Prime Minister named the jeep scam back in 1940s and 1950s, the Bofors scam in 1980s, the AugustaWestland and submarine scams et al.
“All they see is the way to make money even if it means the morale of our forces is diminished,” Modi said. “We are proud of our forces and have faith in them,” Narendra Modi said.
It may be recalled that that during an election campaign in Rajasthan recently Modi took a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for ‘raising doubts’ over the surgical strike by the Indian Army two years ago.
He accused the opposition of being dejected instead of being happy by the military operations. His reaction came on heels of Rahul Gandhi’s accusations. The Congress president accused the Prime Minister of using the surgical strike across the LoC into “political asset” while being “unsuccessful” in creating jobs for the younger generation of the country.
