The attack on the students and teachers at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi moved the entire country. Not only the common people but also Bollywood celebs like Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu, and Dia Mirza among others shared their ideas on the attack and even opposed the act. But a few big names of the film industry like Amitabh Bachhan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and others stayed didn’t utter a single word on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
In a recent interview with The Wire, Naseeruddin spoke about the CAA protests and the JNU students’ protests and even slammed Anupam Kher saying, “Someone like Anupam Kher has been very vocal. I don’t think he needs to be taken seriously. He’s a clown. Any number of his contemporaries from NFD and FTII can attest to his sycophantic nature. It’s in his blood, he can’t help it.”
He praised Deepika Padukone for her visit at the JNU campus, he said, “You have to laud the courage of a girl like Deepika who is in the top firmament and yet takes a step like this. Even if she has a lot to lose, let us see how she takes it. She’ll lose a few endorsement, sure. Will that impoverish her? Will that lessen her popularity? Will that make her less beautiful than she is? They’re gonna come around sooner or later. The only god that film industry worships is money,” he added.
