An encounter broke out between security forces and suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists. The shootout took place in the early hours at the Ban toll plaza. This is on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Jammu’s Nagrota. Security forces had laid a naka bandi on receiving information about suspected terrorists hiding in the area. The encounter lasted for three hours.
The terrorists hiding in the truck opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated and the encounter broke out. Four terrorists were killed in the encounter. A policeman was also injured during the gunfight. A huge cache of arms and explosives has also been recovered from the truck 11 AK-47 rifles and pistols were also recovered.
The police said that it is likely that the terrorists were “planning a big attack” as they were headed towards the Kashmir valley.
