The politics on cow and the assault on people associated with the animal rose in last few years. A recent case in Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh, where a Muslim woman was allegedly assaulted by her for working in an organisation associated with protection of cows.
According to Mehrunisha Khan, her in-laws not only assaulted her, but thrashed her for being associated with with the cause of protecting cows. Ms Khan had also alleged that the attackers tried to kidnap her.

Ms Khan, who is also the president of Madhya Pradesh branch of National Cow Service Corps, stated that the kidnappers threatened her that they would kill her and throw acid on her face. She said, “I am scared. They threatened to kill me and throw acid on me if I do not dissociate myself completely from my work.”
As per to Ms Khan, she has even complained to the police about her threat to her life from her in-laws and some outsiders, but till now they have not been heard. She also states that she has been receiving intimidating posts in her Whatsapp. She further adds, “Even, intimidating posts have been sent to me in my WhatsApp to scare me. Chopped heads have been sent to my WhatsApp threatening that I could be one of such victims if I do not distance myself from my work.”
Seeking help from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for security, Ms Khan adds that even her family members are not helping her, believing that her work has brought a bad name to the family. She said, “Even, my parents and daughter refused to come to my rescue.”
