One of Lokhandwala’s complex witnessed high drama when a model stripped to thwart an attempt to be forcibly taken to the Oshiwara police station.
The incident took place on the night of 25 October. Megha Sharma, who is a model alleged that she was harassed and the police were also forcing her to go with them without the presence of a lady constable. She tweeted to the Mumbai police about her ‘plight’.
According to the police, Megha Sharma, who is a paying guest at one of the buildings in the complex, called up the security guard on the intercom on the night of October 25 and asked him to buy her a pack of cigarettes.
The guard refused and Sharma allegedly stormed downstairs picked up a fight with him and slapped him. Sharma then called up the police and sought their intervention.
After the police arrived, they insisted on the woman to accompany them to the police station to file a complaint. She refused, as it was past midnight and because the police team had no women personnel.
The policemen refused to relent and insisted that she accompany them right away. In the videos, the guard is seen holding the elevator door to prevent her from going to her flat while the police watch on.
As soon as the news came out, various users started posting a video of an incident that took place before Megha Sharma called the police. In the video, she can be seen abusing the guard.
Mumbai Mirror quoted a police officer saying, “The woman, who is a native of Deharadun, lives as a paying guest in the posh housing society of Lokhandwala. She was drinking inside her flat on the 15th floor of the building and asked the security guard Alok via intercom to get a packet of cigarette for her. The security guard however denied. Enraged, she came down and started to argue with Alok.”
Mumbai Police also clarified on Twitter saying that no one was taken to police station.
A second part of the story also suggests that Megha decided to strip her clothes. She did it out of frustration. In the video, it can be seen that she is screaming at the top of her voice while threatening the guards and policemen.
She reasoned that she resorted to stripping her clothes in frustration. “My fight is not only with the watchman but also with those cops who were there watching everything and who didn’t allow me to go back when I already said them I’ll come tomorrow…no law is thr taking a girl with them in a police station,” she tweeted.
Shailesh Pasalwar, senior inspector of Oshiwara police station, confirmed that no FIR had been registered.
