At least 14 people sustained injuries after a portion of an under-construction flyover collapsed in Bandra Kurla Complex. The shocking incident took place in Maharashtra’s Mumbai city on Friday. All 14 are rushed to civic-run VN Desai Hospital and are in stable condition.
According to BMC’s Disaster Management Cell, the incident took place around 4.30 am when a huge portion of the bridge collapsed. The under-construction flyover connects BKC main road to Santa Cruz–Chembur Link Road. At present they are conducting inspections at the site to check whether people have been trapped under the debris.
ANI tweeted,
DCP (Zone 8) Manjunath Singe said, “A portion of the under-construction flyover connecting BKC main road and Santa Cruz–Chembur Link Road collapsed around 4:30 am. 13 people have sustained minor injuries & have been shifted to a hospital. There is no life loss and no person is missing.”
Officials said that there were 24 workers along with two engineers and two supervisors present when the incident took place. Around 4.30 one of the girders collapsed. Most of the workers jumped from the structure but many were trapped. Officials further added that so far they have accounted for all the workers. They do not think that anyone is trapped under the debris.
