Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta who is known for his gangster dramas like Kaante (2002), Musafir (2004), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) and Kaabil (2017) among others, has completed 25 years in the industry. Gupta has now announced, Mumbai Saga his most ambitious project till date.
Mumbai saga features Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy and Amole Gupte in pivotal roles. John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi have also been roped in to play pivotal roles in the upcoming gangster drama.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to announce the mega project. In a statement to Times Now, Gupta said, “25 years, 17 films later I had to give my audience something bigger and better. Mumbai Saga is by far my most ambitious film which needed a visionary producer. And I am grateful to Bhushan Kumar for putting his faith and might in it. It is one such story that needs to be said on screen.” Gupta said in a statement.
The movie will be produced by Kumar’s T-Series banner. Set in the 1980s-’90s, the film revolves around all that went into transforming Bombay into Mumbai. It will go on floors next month and is likely to release in 2020.
