An 11-year-old girl was gagged and raped at knifepoint by a robber in Mumbai’s Bandra East on Monday. The incident took place when her father was at work and mother had gone to buy something, the Police are looking for an accused who also stole Rs 15 cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 45,000.
When minor’s girl returned home she found her home locked from outside and her daughter laying on the floor with her hands and legs are tied. When she untied her, she got to know what had happened to her when she was not at home.
She called her husband, when he returned home, they registered a complaint with Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) police station. A case under stringent sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code has been registered against an unknown person.
According to the Police, the accused must be in his late 20s.“A stranger rang the doorbell minutes after my parents left the home. He enquired about my parents whereabout as I was talking to him, he suddenly whipped out a knife. He tied my hands with Dupatta and gagged me before sexually assaulting me. He also threatened me if scream for help. After sexually assaulting me he stole cash and ornaments from a cupboard and fled.” minor said in her complaint.
“The girl was alone at home when the man entered her house. Before taking cash and jewellery worth ‘51,000, he raped the girl and later tied her hands and legs,” the source at BKC police station said. An officer said three teams had been formed to nail the accused.
“The girl’s medical report in connection with the matter is still awaited,” an officer told Mid-Day. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) zone 8 Anil Kumbhare refused to comment, calling the matter ‘highly sensitive’.
