Mumbai Rains: Amid Heavy Downpour, Mumbai Police Issue List of Affected Areas

Mumbai Rains Live Update 2nd August 2019: The heavy spells of rains have once again affected the lives of Mumbaikars. Yes, keeping in mind the safety and security of all officegoers and commutters, Mumbai Police has issued a notice on social media asking people to travel only if necessary.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rains in the next 24 hours. There are numerous areas in Mumbai, which were waterlogged due to intense rainfalls. The IMD Director General-designate said that the month of July recorded above the normal monsoon, taking the overall season’s rainfall deficiently to 9%.


They have also predicted the next two week of August most likely to receive a good amount of rainfalls. Notably, the rainfalls Mumbai received in July was the highest rainfall in last 60-years.

On Saturday, the Mumbai police department has issued a notification, urging citizens to not venture out unless absolutely necessary.

“As per weather forecast, Intense spells of rain likely to continue in the next 4 hrs and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hrs. We request Mumbaikars to take adequate precautions & ensure safety. #Dial100 in case of any emergency,” Mumbai Police said on Twitter.


The Mumbai Police have released a list of most affected areas which includes SV Road Andheri Subway, Siddheshwar mandir jetty in Malad, SV Road, Behram Baug in Jogeshwari, Hanuman nagar and Akurli, Road in Kandivali east, Sardar Pratap Singh, Sankool Janta market at Bhadup, Link Road Inorbit and Infinity mall complete stretch, Kings Circle on Eastern Express Highway, Kanjurmarg West and Gandhi Nagar, Jankalyan Nagar at Malad west, JVLR Western Suburbs Vikhroli Road connecting Western and Eastern Express Highways, Netaji Palkar Chowk, JB Nagar Andheri east, Kandivali east station road, Dahisar Highway near check post, Hindmata near Dadar and Samta Nagar in Kandivali East are some of the roads affected by intense rainfall in the financial capital.

Owing to relentless heavy downpour, several flights were cancelled today in Mumbai while routed of public buses have been diverted. Apart from Mumbai, Gujarat and Odisha are also on high alert as there is a high possibility of heavy rainfall, according to the weather department.
