Mumbai-London Jet airways flight diverted to Romania to save a passenger
A 23-year-old man suffered a heart attack mid-air, on a Mumbai-London Jet-Airways flight 9W116 which departed at 9:55 am and was scheduled to arrive at London’s Heathrow airport at 3:10 pm. Unfortunately, on Sunday the flight had to make an emergency landing to save life of an on-board passenger.
The aircraft landed at Bucharest, Romania where the passenger was rushed to the hospital.
According to an eyewitness named Vivek Pandit who was on-board when the incident occurred, said that the passenger’s ‘awkward’ slump in his seat was noticed by a Jet cabin crew, who then raised the alarm so that immediate medical help can be provided. The passenger had a weak pulse and his face had turned blue.
Two doctors accompanied the passenger in danger, as the flight diverted to Bucharest, Romania.

Author Suhel Seth tweeted to vent his anger. “The commander of @jetairways 9W 116 which is now stranded at Bucharest tells us that while all local clearances have been given, they are waiting for the goddamn DGCA to give them an approval and that too from Bombay? How stupid can things get?” he tweeted.
An airline spokesperson said: “Flight 9W116 from Mumbai to London Heathrow with 328 guests on board was diverted to Bucharest, Romania due to a medical emergency on the 22nd of July 2018. The guest has now been shifted to a local hospital for further treatment. Jet Airways, along with local authorities, is making all necessary arrangements for the flight to continue its onward journey to London Heathrow.”
