To relief the people of Maharashtra, the state government has announced resuming suburban local train services for common people. Only those will be allowed to travel, who are fully vaccinated. MAHA CM, Uddhav Thackeray made the announcement of resuming local train services from Independence Day i.e August 15, 2021. The state officials will be monitoring the crowd gathering for the local train travels. Passengers need to first get the Universal Travel Passes issued by the state. Here’s everything about the documents that you need to carry while travelling.

- As per the official announcements, the passengers need to carry all the documents- monthly train pass, stamped vaccination certificate and photo ID card
- State government will issue the e-passes to passengers(one can also get it offline). Only those passengers are allowed, who have completed taking both the jabs against COVID-19 virus. Also, they should have completed 14-days of gap after the second vaccine.
- No entry at the railway station without passes. The issuing of the passes will take place after complete verification of vaccines taken by a person. If the passenger fails to bring any document along, he/she won’t be allowed to enter the station premises
- The new pass rule is not applicable for government and essential category employees. They do not have to produce any documents or passes except for their regular tickets
- Strict action will be taken against those who produce fake vaccination certificates. The BMC has warned about taking strict action against those, who present fake vaccination certificates. On the other side, the state officials will issue the passes based on the QR code. These will help the officials at the railway station to cross check the authenticity of the pass and identity of the person
- Around 56 suburban railway stations will be functional after the state resumes local trains for common people. The civic body stated that help desks will be operational in two consecutive sessions from 7 am to 11 pm. Passengers can approach the station nearest to their house for verification and issuing of the passes following the COVID-19 guidelines of social distancing.
