On Tuesday, 3rd July 2018, The bridge connected Andheri West and East collapsed on a railway track. This is just start of the July rains and the city is already facing with vulnerable reports of submerged roads and slow traffic movement and now, the bridge collapse.
Mumbai rains are likely to continue as stated by the the India Meterological Department.
The cause of the collapse is yet not known but fire brigade vehicles have been rushed to the spot. Traffic movement on Western Express Highway is far slower than on regular days as rains continue to lash the city.
Overflowing drains are only adding to the problem as Mumbai wakes up to another rainy day.
Around 5 people are said to be injured, out of which two are critical admitted in Intensive care unit (ICU). NDRF teams have been sent to the spot for rescue operations. Local trains on Western Suburban Line have been affected due to technical reasons between Andheri and Vile Parle.

BMC fire brigade as well as RPF staff and officers have been rushed to the spot for support, the Mumbai police said. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked BMC commissioner to increase frequency of BEST buses.
The railway commuters who are stuck on platform have been informed by the authorities about helpline numbers for emergency.
As per chief minister Fadnavis has ordered to increase the bus frequency, the fare for the train commuters who are stuck due to disaster and have railway tickets and passes with them would be charged no fare for bus ride to travel to their destination.
Coming to train traffic, it is said that there were six railway tracks passing under Road Over Bridges (ROB). And the train traffic is been diverted to harbour line.
There is police force to keep eye on. While it is reported by local that the bridge was 40 years old.
