Significant flight delays continued today for the second successive day Mumbai’s airport as the city is witnessing heavy rains.
Mumbai is India’s second busiest airport and its most congested. It handles 950 flights everyday. The airport has been facing regular disruptions due to a wide array of issues.
Out of which the prominent reason is the weather conditions because of which the flights divert their route or the flight can’t land unless the pilot gets clear signal and visibility with coordination to ATS ie Air Traffic Control.

However, if bad weather conditions cause one particular flight to be delayed or cancelled and this subsequently results in delay of a later aircraft.
In a tweet, Jet Airways said that travellers can expect a delay in arrival and departure by up to 30 minutes until 3 pm.
On average, nearly 33% of flight movements at the airport were delayed during last year, according to data on the airport’s website.
