Mumbai: Level-3 fire breaks out at ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Andheri; 147 people rescued

A level-3 fire broke out at ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Mumbai’s Andheri on Monday afternoon. No reports of casualty have emerged so far.

A level-3 fire broke out at ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Mumbai’s Andheri on Monday afternoon. According to the officials, death toll has risen to 6 while 147 people have been rescued till now.

As soon as the fire broke out, locals alerted the police and fire tenders. Several fire engines are at the spot trying to put out the fire. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. The fire reportedly broke out at 4 PM while MFB declared Level-3 fire call at 4:20 PM.

The news agency ANI in a tweet said, “Mumbai: A Level-3 fire breaks out at ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Andheri, rescue operations underway. No casualty reported. #Maharashtra.”

“The fire brigade received a call at around 4 pm about the fire,” an official from the city civic body’s disaster management cell said. He further added that eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Efforts to douse the flames and evacuate the patients are underway.

In October, a level-3 fire broke out in a slum at Lalmati, opposite Bandra Fire Station on Nagardas Road in Mumbai.
