Mumbai BMC’s New Order For Allocation Of COVID Beds In Hospital
Mumbai: BMC orders private hospitals to reserve 80% beds for COVID patients, warns against over charging
Amid an increasing surge of coronavirus infections in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to discharge asymptomatic patients at the earliest. It is to vacate beds for the patients with more serious symptoms. Thye have also issued an order for all private hospitals in the city to keep 80 per cent of beds reserved for Covid-19 patients.
The BMC in its statement said that 100 per cent of ICU beds at private hospitals to be kept reserved for Ward War Room allotment COVID-19 patients only. No direct admission to any of these reserved beds to be taken by hospitals. The private health institutes have also been asked to charge coronavirus patients as per government guidelines. The BMC ward officers will keep a check whether the private hospitals in their ward follow the guidelines.
The civic body has also added that no asymptomatic Covid-19 patients without comorbidity would be allotted a hospital bed in any public or private hospitals.
As of 28 March, there are 13,006 dedicated covid centres in Mumbai. The number of Covid Care Centres-2 (CCC-2) stands at 23,806, out of which 3,241 are occupied. In addition to this, the city has 1,709 ICU beds and 1,036 ventilator beds. As many as 8,694 oxygen beds have also been operationalised.
In Maharashtra, the total cases have reached 27,45,518 and the death toll reached 54,283. At present, there are 3,36,584 active coronavirus cases in the state.
