As reported by Mumbai Mirror, As the Brihanmumbai Corporation (BMC)has decided to impose a stringent 11.30 PM deadline for hotels, pubs, restaurants and bars. The BMC has also directed the pubs and restaurants to operate at 33 per cent capacity. Also to follow all the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Since October 5 the BMC has imposed restrictions for restaurants, pubs and bars. But it found out that many restaurants were not following the protocols. BMC soon swung into action and started fining the patrons who were not wearing masks. The BMC has also issued show-cause notices to many restaurants and gymkhanas for serving patrons beyond the 11.30 pm deadline.

Not only Mumbai, but Bengaluru has also banned New Year Eve celebrations in all public places. Also in popular high streets such as M.G. Road and Brigade Road in the city centre too. This is to curb the spread of coronavirus. Police will be deployed to prevent people from gathering in public places, the Karnataka government stated.
