Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni becomes fourth Indian to score 10000 runs in One Day Internationals. He achieved the feat in second ODI against England at Lord’s. MS Dhoni also becomes the second wicket keeper to achieve the milestone after Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara.
Sangakkara made 13,341 runs for his nation before retiring in 2015. He was a significant figure in the Sri Lankan outfit, who intrigued bowlers of high quality with his mesmerising batting skills.

Dhoni has also become the only cricketer to have entered the 10,000 club with an average of over 50. The hard hitting cricketer is the third fastest Indian to hit the 10,000 mark. There are several other records held by Dhoni. He has 10 centuries playing at the number seven position which is the most by any batsman playing at this position. He has hit most sixes as captain in ODIs. He also holds the record for most stumpings in International cricket and highest score by a wicket keeper in ODIs. Besides, he is also the captain with most T20 International wins, numbering 41.
Earlier in the day, the Ranchi man caught Jos Buttler off Umesh Yadav to become India’s first wicket keeper to grab 300 catches. He is only the fourth International wicket keeper to achieve this feat. Adam Gilchrist tops the chart with 417 catches followed by Mark Boucher with 402 catches and Sangakkara at 383.
Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid are the other Indians who have made it to the 10000 run mark.
