At the closing end of his career, MS Dhoni may no longer be in the scheme of things for the Indian national team after the selectors dropped him for the upcoming Twenty-20 series against the West Indies and Australia, but the veteran India wicket-keeper showed why he is still one of the fittest players around.
The 37-year-old displayed great fitness prowess to take a stunning catch during the third ODI between India and West Indies in Pune on Saturday.
Virat Kohli won the toss and sent West Indies to bat first on a greenish track. And with India bringing back their premier bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the hosts were expected to get an early breakthrough.
But the Caribbeans were off to a great start with their opening pair of Chandrapaul Hemraj and Kieran Powell dealing in boundaries. But Bumrah returned to dismiss Hemraj the very next ball after the left-hander had smashed him for a six.

Bumrah banged the ball short, which Hermraj hooked but only managed to edge it. Although the ball went behind, still it was quite far from Dhoni. The former India skipper ran but despite giving it a long chase, he still was falling short of the ball by some distance.
Dhoni, however, pulled off a stunner with a full-stretched dive and grabbed the ball clocking years back. It would certainly be memorable for the former India skipper given it came just a day after the selectors had ignored him from the T20 squad.
But despite his brilliance behind the stumps – Dhoni also effected a brilliant stumping of Shimron Hetmyer – Dhoni has failed to deliver with the bat.
