Motorola Edge+ India Launch Today: Expected Price, Specifications, More

Motorola Edge Plus is set for its India launch at 12 PM today. The smartphone is launching just in time as the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions are being gradually lifted. The phone is all set to give competition to the premium smartphone market in India. It has already been unveiled in the United States. The Motorola Edge+ is priced at $999 (roughly Rs. 75,300) in the US. The India pricing might be around the same range. It has been released in the US in Smoky Sangria and Thunder Grey colour options. The device will be available online via Flipkart. With the Edge+, Motorola is making a re-entry in the premium flagship smartphone market.

The Motorola Edge+ will be unveiled at 12 pm (noon) IST. But the company has not revealed whether it wants to host a virtual event. If it does host an online event, Motorola will stream it online via its YouTube channel and social handles.

In the USA, the Motorola Edge Plus was priced at $999 upon launch which translates to roughly Rs 75,700 before taxes. In comparison, we have Xiaomi Mi 10 5G priced at Rs 49,999 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is available for Rs 54,999. Whereas OnePlus 8 Pro with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is available for Rs 54,999. The model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is available for Rs 59,999. For Motorola, the pricing will be key here.

Motorola Edge+ features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is curved along the edges and sports a punch-hole for the front camera. Motorola Edge+ also features an in-display fingerprint scanner and supports HDR10+. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM. Internal UFS 3.0 storage is at 256GB. There is no option to expand it further using a microSD card slot.

It has a 108-megapixel main camera on the back with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. It is paired with an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 3D ToF depth sensor. For selfies, there is a 25-megapixel shooter housed inside the punch-hole display

Motorola Edge+ comes equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging.

Motorola Edge+ will be available in two colour options — Smokey Sangria and Thunder Grey. The phone runs on Android 10. The company is promising at least one major Android update (Android 11).
