With barely 10 months left for 2019 Lok Sabha elections, opposition party leaders are uniting together to generate heat outside the Parliament too. Be it Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Hardik Patel or Sujan Chakraborty, all the leaders are thinking in the same direction – Elections.
Since the heated debate on issues like mob lynching and women’s safety have ignited the fire inside House, these politicians are literally flaunting it outside. From making controversial comments to taking jibes, these politicians are trying everything to be in news.
Though most of them had extended their support to Congress, some are still thinking which side to take. It may be due to the fact that no one wants to compromise on the number of seats if a coalition takes place. However, there is no guarantee of these opportunists, who might tilt to any side – BJP or Congress – provided ample seats and money are provided to contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Let’s take a look at what these netas are saying:
Tejaswi Yadav, RJD: Lalu Prasad Yadav’s younger son does not maintain a good relationship with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, after their alliance broke in 2017. Kumar shifted side and preferred to smell ‘Lotus’ than taking ‘Lantern’ in hand. Since then Tejashwi had been vocal against Kumar and BJP. Though Yadav did not give a clear sign whether he would support Congress or not, his tweets depict something fishy.
Here is what Yadav said recently:
Mayawati, BSP: Our Behanji knows what needs to be done in order to get attention. Riding high on elephant, she has ruled Uttar Pradesh for years. Her decision of sacking party leaders for speaking against Rahul Gandhi, shows her future intentions.
Here is what Mayawati said recently:
Mob lynching is a deed of narrow-minded BJP members & supporters, but they consider it patriotism. I condemn the #AlwarLynching incident but think that BJP won’t be able to take appropriate action in the case. Therefore, I request Court to intervene: BSP chief Mayawati in Delhi pic.twitter.com/8sfzIFQIxa
Akhilesh Yadav, SP: Former chief minister of Uttar Pardesh was in news in 2017 when he took the support of ‘hands’ to ride ‘bicycle’ for the Assembly elections. Though he lost the battle to ‘Lotus’, he remains to hold the cycle’s grip with hands. Recently, Yadav was seen giving instructions to Rahul, on how to maintain distance with BJP.
Here is what Akhilesh Yadav said recently:
Hardik Patel, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS): The leader became popular with his Patidar reservation agitation a couple of years back in Gujarat. He is known for his controversial comments against NaMo, but it would be interesting to see whether he shakes ‘hand’ or chooses to smell ‘Lotus’.
Here is what Hardik Patel said recently:
Dr Sujan Chakraborty, CPI(M): The highly literate politician is known for speaking sense. Whether it relates to target Mamata Banerjee or BJP, every comment makes sense. Since CPI(M) is struggling to regain the lost ground, we will have to wait to see whether sickle and hammer will hold hand or cut it.
