Communist Party of India (Marxist) parliamentarian from Raigunj, Mohammed Salim, on Friday took the Narendra Modi-led Union government and Reliance Foundation to the cleaners for including the ‘upcoming’ Jio Institute in the ‘Institute of Imminence‘ tag. He lambasted the BJP government for benefiting Mukesh Ambani for political motives in the ongoing ‘No Confidence Motion’ in the Monsoon Session of the Parliament on Friday.
Questioning the government’s status on how can an institute, whose not even a single brick has been layed, can be thought of a ‘Institute of Imminence’ and compare with globally renowned IITs in Mumbai and Delhi, Salim straight forwardly said that this is ploy. He said, “For whom is the government working? Its difficult to build one school, with legalities involved, and the government has planned to give Rs 1,000 crore to an non-existing institutes. It’s like the child is not born and a road is named after it.”
Taking on the other issues, the communist leader spoke about the rising rapes and security issues of women in India. He said, “The government which can not ensure that safety and protection of women and children, have no authority to rule the country.” Adding more, he also said that Modi government has “given a free hand to the ‘anti-national’, ‘anti-communal’ forces in India in last 4 years”.
Ending his firey speech, Salim took on BJP president Amit Shah for his association in the co-operative bank scam in Gujarat post demonetisation. He said that the Modi government said, “The damage done to the nation in last 70 years, you have done last four years.”
With the party already in the backfoot, BJP MP Paresh Rawal to turn the tide in their favour, but was unsuccessful. Using his acting skills to perfection to ridicule the Gandhi scion, but with little success. However, Rahul Gandhi came back with renewed vigor and flowed the ruling party. The Congress president camouflaged the Monsoon Session with his impeccable speech against the Union government.
In a failed attempt, Rawal said, “If Rahul Gandhi speaks for 15 minutes from without looking at paper, without fumbling, without any mistake, then the earth will not only shake but dance.”
