Monsoon to hit Kerala today
As per the forecast of India Meteorological Department (IMD), southwest monsoon will hit Kerala today, 3 days before the normal onset date.
According to skymet weather, conditions have been favourable for the further advancement of the southwest monsoon, covering parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, parts of the Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.
A spokesperson from IMD said, “During next 24 hours, southwest monsoon likely to advance. Situations are favourable for further advancement into the southeast Arabian Sea and parts of central Arabian Sea, parts of Kerala, south and interior Karnataka, parts of Tamil Nadu and Bay of Bengal”.
In the meantime, Kerala is also expected to get some relief from the scorching heat in the coming days.
As said by another spokesperson, “There is a well-marked low-pressure area in the southeast Arabian Sea. We have warned fishermen not to go there as well. On May 30 and 31 and June 1, extreme south districts of Gujarat will experience very light rainfall.”
According to IMD, Gusty winds and western disturbances will bring relief and the temperature will likely go down in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
