Mohammed Salah scores corner goal, sustains leg injury in Egypt’s match against Swaziland
It was a mixed night of sorts for Egypt and Liverpool star Mohammed Salah in his country’s African Cup of Nations qualifier match against Swaziland at the Al-Salam Stadium Cairo on Friday.
The winger scored directly from a corner in Egypt’s 4-1 thumping win on the night but sustained a leg injury in the 88th minute of the match. Despite receiving treatment and trying to brush off the injury, the talismanic footballer left the ground soon after during injury time.

Egypt’s assistant coach Hanzy Ramzy feels that it isn’t a “serious injury” and the tests and medical scans would go on to reveal the extent of the damage.
“It is only a muscle strain but he will undergo medical scans to determine the length of the injury,” Ramzy said, in his interaction with Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram. This victory took them to the top of Group J along with Tunisia, who have played a game less.
The star forward would expectedly miss the away match against Swaziland on Tuesday. His club, Liverpool take on Huddersfield in an away fixture next Saturday in the Premier League.
