Mohammad Azharuddin was undoubtedly one of India’s best batsmen before he was banned for life for being involved in spot-fixing.
Before that, he was the captain of the Indian team that played in three World Cups–1992, 1996 and 1999. He made his presence felt with three hundreds in as many Tests and his wristy flick and classy strokeplay was a treat to watch.

The former Hyderabad batsman, who now is a member of the parliament is eyeing the 2019 elections from the Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituency. Currently, he is a Congress working president in Telangana.
Azharuddin’s journey has been very eventful all this while. He began as a cricketer aspiring to represent his country at the highest level and did so with pride. He won a total of 99 Test caps and 334 ODIs and now he has set foot on politics, aiming to make a mark there as well.
