Miss England Dr Bhasha Mukherjee, has shown her humanitarian gesture at this time of crisis. She has returned back to the UK from her birthplace, Kolkata, to work as a doctor during the novel coronavirus outbreak. The beauty queen who was working for various charities overseas went to the UK after hearing about her NHS colleagues working 13-hour days in the battle against coronavirus.
In an interview with the American news network Fox News, Mukherjee said that it wasn’t easy for her to take the decision. She said, “I’ve been to Africa, Turkey, and India was the first of the Asian countries I was going to travel to. After India, I had several other countries that had to be cut short because of obviously the coronavirus. I knew the best place for me would be back at the hospital.”
In an interview with CNN, the 24-year-old said, “When you are doing all this humanitarian work abroad, you’re still expected to put the crown on, get ready… look pretty.”
“I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work,” she added.
When Mukherjee was in India in March, she started receiving messages from her colleagues at the Pilgrim Hospital in England. So, she decided to be back after hearing their plight.
As per Mirror UK, she begged the Government to allow her to go home so that she could help her colleagues. She returned to the UK on Wednesday after the British High Commission in Kolkata allowed her.
