Mother’s photo not placed on stage; BJP minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia walks out of meeting in rage

Senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Sports minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia walked off a party meeting on Saturday after noticing that her mother’s photo was not placed in the dais alongside other dignitaries.

Yashodhara was enraged to find that her mother Vijaya Raje Scindia’s – a founding member of the BJP and fondly called ‘Rajmata’ – picture was missing from the podium, when portraits of others such as Deendayal Upadhyaya, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Kushabhau Thakre were present on the stage, reported NDTV.

This upset her resulting in her walking off the meeting, in the presence of other official functionaries. BJP leader present there tried to coax her but to no avail and although a picture of the ‘Rajmata’ was later placed on the stage, Yashodhara refused to return.

State Home Minister Bhupendra Singh, however, refused any such issue and when asked the reason behind Scindia’s conspicuous absence, he said, “I won’t say she left in anguish, she might have some important work.”

The meeting was reportedly called by the party to take a look at the preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah’s visit to the state on the occasion of the ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh,’ which is scheduled to be held in Bhopal on September 25, the birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyay.
