Milkha Singh Passes Away: SRK, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar & Others Pay Tribute

Legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh passed away on Friday night due to COVID-19 related issues. The ace sprinter had recently tested negative earlier this week. He showed signs of recovery upon shifting to general ICU but his condition deteriorated on Thursday evening. The Padma Shri awardee is survived by his golfer son Jeev Milkha Singh and three daughters.

Soon tributes started pouring in from all walks of life, from politicians to cricketers and also Bollywood celebs. PM Narendra Modi, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Sachin Tendulkar, and many more took to social media to console the demise of the ace sprinter.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi consoled the demise of the “colossal sportsperson”. He tweeted,

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said it was the end of an era and India and Punjab “are poorer”.

Shah Rukh Khan took to his Twitter and paying his respects he wrote, “The Flying Sikh may no longer be with us in person but his presence will always be felt and his legacy will remain unmatched… An inspiration to me… an inspiration to millions. Rest in Peace Milkha Singh sir.”

Amitabh Bachchan called The Flying Sikh ‘the pride’ of the nation, he wrote, “T 3940 – In grief .. Milkha Singh passes away .. the pride of India .. a great athlete .. a greater human .. Waheguru di Mehr .. prayers 🙏🙏”

Farhan Akhtar who played the role of the legendary sportsman too consoled the demise of the sportsman with an emotional tweet.

Virendra Sehwag said Milkha’s name will be synonymous with courage and will-power.

Harbhajan Singh said, “Very sad,heartbreaking to hear flying sikh Sardar Milkha singh ji is no more… waheguru RIPMilkhaSinghji.”
