Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher’s Son Mick Schumacher is all set to follow his father’s footstep. The youngster will join the Formula 1 grid for 2021 having secured the second Haas seat. The 21-year-old will line up at the season-opening Grand Prix in Melbourne on 21 March.
Mick has signed a multi-year deal to race with an American team. He said, “The prospect of being on the Formula 1 grid next year makes me incredibly happy and I’m simply speechless. I would like to thank Haas F1 team, Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari Driver Academy for placing their trust in me. Also want to acknowledge and extend my love to my parents – I know that I owe them everything. I have always believed that I would realise my dream of Formula 1.”
Mick will debut with Haas in Friday practice at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. 21-year-old Mick Schumacher currently leads the Formula 2 title race by 14 points. His father won a record 91 races in F1, claiming seven world titles in the process.
