On Wednesday, former adult film star Mia Khalifa tweeted in support of the farmers’ agitation that has been going on in New Delhi, India. The protest is an ongoing objection against three farm acts that were passed by the Parliament of India in September 2020.
Taking to Twitter, Mia tweeted as: “What in the human rights violations is going on?! They cut the internet around New Delhi?! #FarmersProtest”

Soon after her tweet, Mia Khalifa became a top trend on Twitter. Earlier, the pop sensation Rihanna and Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg also took to their respective Twitter handle and extended their support to the farmers’ protest.
“why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest,” tweeted Rihanna.
Greta tweeted as: “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India.”
Apart from them, United Kingdom (UK) Member of Parliament Claudia Webbe also expressed solidarity with the Indian farmers.
Talking about the farmers’ protest, last month, on January 26, 2021, Republic Day, the farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh took out a tractor rally in New Delhi which turned violent. They even attacked Delhi Police personnel in ITO before storming the Red Fort.
The farmers have been protesting against the three enacted farm laws- Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
