#MeToo: Man tried to put his hand in my pants, says Saqib Saleem
After Saif Ali Khan, now Huma Quereshi’s brother Saqib Saleem is the latest celebrity to join social media campaign #MeToo, against sexual harassment and shared his story.
The social media campaign is not only empowering women but men too. Saqib Saleem opened up about a man without naming him, who tried to put his hand inside his pants and how he managed to get out of the situation.
While giving an interview to Hindustan Times, Saqib said, “I don’t want to take names, but when I started out as an actor- I was only 21 years old- there was a man who tried to assault me. He tried to put his hand in my pants.”
He also spoke about his several gay friends in Bollywood industry and called them wonderful friends. “When it happened with me, I whacked the guy and I told him to mind his own f***ing business and I left. I was 21, and of course, it scared me, but I moved on. I’m sure that everyone’s different and an incident such as this must affect different people differently,” added the actor.
Saqib said he did not react because of that person’s sexuality but his action. “These stories are heartbreaking and sexual offenders are horrible people,” Saqib said.
Bollywood celebrities like Sajid Khan, Alok Nath, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor and Vikas Bahl are some of the other names, that have been called out over the last few days.
