After joining hands with Ajit Jogi’s Janta Congress in Chhattisgarh, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has announced to go solo in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pardesh and Rajasthan. Citing the problems with senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, Mayawati chose to walk in different direction, opposite to the Congress.
Announcing her party’s solo move in Madhya Pardesh and Rajasthan, the BSP chief said, as ANI quotes, “BSP will fight assembly elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on its own. No alliance with Congress.” Mayawati was of the opinion that party leaders like Digvijay Singh do not wish for a Congress- BSP alliance, as they are afraid of agencies like Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation.
She even claimed Digvijay Singh a BJP agent. She said, “Digvijaya Singh who is also a BJP agent is giving statements that Mayawati ji has a lot of pressure from Centre so she doesn’t want this alliance. This is baseless.”
The Dalit leader stated that like Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress too have arrogance issues. She said, “They (Congress) are getting arrogant & are under misconception that they can defeat BJP on their own but the ground reality is that people haven’t forgiven Congress party for their mistakes and corruption…They don’t seem to be ready to rectify themselves.” She added, “Congress, like the BJP, is conspiring to finish off our (BSP) party.”
On Sonia Gandhi and party president Rahul Gandhi she said, “I feel that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi’s intentions for Congress-BSP alliance are honest. However some Congress leaders are sabotaging this.”
