The 1975’s Matty Healy Slams Abortion Law at Alabama Fest 2019 – Watch

Matty Healy, seems to be angry on State’s recent abortion law, restricting women from having an abortion after six weeks into their pregnancy. Yes, The 1975’s Matty Healy, who is supposed to play at Alabama’s Hangout Fest on Friday took an opportunity to slam abortion law, which was signed by Alabama Governor Kay Ivery on May 15.

At the show, Matty said, “The reason I’m so angry is because I don’t believe [the ban] is about the preservation of life; I believe it’s about the controlling of women.”

He went on and criticised the Republican governor saying that “you are not men of God, you are simply misogynistic wankers.”

It is to be noted that Healy is not the only celebrities who have been speaking up against the draconian law. Prior to Matty, Lady Gaga, Rihanna Janelle Monae, Kacey Musgraves and many others also expressed their concerned on the same. Matty Healy Apologises To His Hotel Neighbors BTS

Healy said that he has read the abortion bill and was appalled by its comparison of Jews who died in the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide.

“There’s people, men in the active government, actively comparing the harrowing difficult life choices of female American citizens to the Holocaust — to the Holocaust. That is a disgrace,” he said.

“If you think the Holocaust is analogous to those things, people will call you a monster, but I will tell you, you are fundamentally uneducated,” he added.

The 1975 is all set to release Notes On A Conditional Form—the follow-up to last year’s album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships in June. Notably, they’re currently in the midst of a North American tour, the band is likely to move to the U.K., Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand from June through September.
