As the entire country in a state of chaos, uncertainty and panic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has apologised for taking strict measures but said that these measures were need of the hour. Amidst 21-days nationwide lockdown, PM Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation via his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
In his Mann Ki Baat address, PM Modi has underscored the need to enforce the restrictions, saying that those who are no defying the lockdown are playing with their own life. PM Narendra Modi’s warning came as the total number of Coronavirus positive cases in India has surged to 979.

Not only in India, but COVID-10 has also already spread across 190 countries. Today (March 29, 2020) is the fifth day of 21-day nationwide lockdown. According to The Union Health Ministry, 87 people have been recovered so far but 25 people had to lose their lives due to Coronavirus pandemic.
Apologising to citizens for imposing the restrictions across the country, “I apologize for taking these harsh steps which have caused difficulties in your lives, especially the poor people. I know some of you would be angry with me also. But these tough measures were needed to win this battle,” PM Modi said.
“People must be wondering what kind of PM I am … But lockdown the only solution in front of us. Many people are still defying lockdown… this is sad…Many people across the world did the same mistake,” the Prime Minister said in today’s Mann ki Baat.

In order to fight the Coronavirus war, PM Modi on Saturday launched a new fund called PM CARES. There are multiple celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and Varun Dhawan donated a whopping amount to Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES).
Taking to social media, Prime Minister Modi on Sunday thanked people who have made their contribution to the PM CARES fund to battle the coronavirus crisis.
Globally, there have been over 6.6 lakh confirmed cases of COVID-19. At least 30,800 people have died so far. According to reports, the US now has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, followed by Italy.
