Coronavirus Lockdown: Total ban on private vehicular movement in Mangaluru
Vehicular movement has been completely banned on the roads in the district with effect from 12.30 pm on Thursday, April 2. Mangaluru City Police have clamped a total ban on the movement of private vehicles: cars and two-wheelers from 12.30 p.m. onwards during the lockout period.
Police commissioner Dr P S Harsha, in a tweet, said that in case of medical emergencies, the people can avail of ambulance services. Everyone has been requested to cooperate with the administration. He further informed that detailed advisory relating to this move will be issued shortly by the district administration, he informed in the tweet.

Regular business hours were allowed for provision and vegetable stores every day from 7 am to 12 noon in the district now. The city remained calm during relaxation hours with people buying essentials without crowding places. Vegetables, fruits, groceries, and milk were available at many outlets.
The number of cases of the novel Coronavirus across the globe is racing towards the 1 million- mark. The Global Death toll has risen above 45,000. In India, the coronavirus cases have risen in the last 4 days. The health ministry has confirmed over 1900 positive cases so far.
