Manchester City get Riyad Mahrez for £60m from Leicester City

Riyad Mahrez is all set to complete his transfer move to Manchester City later this week. The 27-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days, with all major aspects of the deal agreed between the two clubs. Leicester will receive around £60m for the winger.

He had initially showed his aspirations to get around £80m in January. This transfer price looks way short of the asked price. City made a number of bids for Mahrez in the last transfer window as well. Even Mahrez himself requested an official transfer request twice. But Leicester refused to all of it.

The Premier League champions have been desperate to keep the Algerian international who scored 13 goals in 41 appearances for them last season.

The majority of Leicester’s squad reported back for pre-season training on Monday, but Mahrez and Algeria team-mate Islam Slimani were not seen as they will join the team later.
