In what seems to be a case of reaction instead of action, a man was shot dead by security forces after he rammed his car into the home of National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah in Jammu on Saturday. Abdullah has been designated as a Z-plus category protectee and was in New Delhi at the time of the incident.
A different visual was put forth by the father of the man who was gunned down and ANI quoted him whilst he hinted towards foul play.
According to reports by the police, the unarmed man drove a black Mahindra XUV500 at a high speed, banged the car against the main gate and drove in. He started vandalising the property after he crashed during which one security official was injured.
CRPF personnel stationed at Abdullah’s residence shot him dead soon after.
Police said the man’s Aadhaar card revealed that he belonged to Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch.
The intruder, after ramming the car against the main gate, stopped at the garden and entered the house ransacking everything that came his way, Press Trust of India quoted police sources as saying.
Farooq Abdullah’s son Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to acknowledge the incident.
Farooq Abdullah, a sitting Lok Sabha member from the Srinagar constituency, is in New Delhi for the ongoing parliament session.
