Man dangling on wire falls down, fractures hands, legs in south Mumbai
In a bizarre incident that took place in South Mumbai’s Crawford Market area when a 38-year-old man was witnessed dangling on a cable wire attached with another building from the JJ flyover. Eventually the man lost grip and fell from the wire and fractured his hands and legs.
After the man fell down, people nearby rushed him to GT Hospital, where he is currently under treatment. The Pydhonie police is probing into the incident to tie the loose ends about the sequence of events.
The man identified as Javed Ali Ashraf, works at the Crawford market as sweeper. Going by the police as reported by mid-day, he was under the influence of some narcotics substance and did the outrageous act of dangling on the wire connected to a building. He attempted to go to the building by hanging from the cable wire and in doing so he fell on the ground and sustained several injuries. Ashraf could manage to go halfway when he slipped and fell.
The whole incident was video recorded on mobile phones by some passers-by. “As he fell on the road, the passers-by immediately rushed him to GT Hospital, which is few metres away from the Crawford market junction, where he is recuperating. He has sustained several injuries, with a fracture on his hand and leg. We had taken his statement, however, he is saying he does not remember what all happened as he was under the influence of drugs. No case has been registered in the matter yet and we are probing the matter to ascertain the exact sequence of events,” a police officer was quoted as saying by mid-day.
