Malegaon: Massive fire breaks out in Naag Chap, several shanties gutted
A massive fire broke out at Malegaon’s Naag Chap slum area on Saturday, which falls under Golden Nagar area. Almost 12 to 14 houses were gutted in the fire and several properties were damaged. No casualties have been reported as of yet, but it is expected that there might be some injuries.
The reason of the fire yet to be ascertained, however, local authorities suspect this can be due to a cylinder blast. Soon after the blast, over 20 fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire, but until then shanties were gutted. Local authorities have taken control over the area.
Residing in the same area, one of the victim said to The Live Mirror, “The fire in Naag Chap started at around 4:30 pm but soon it engulfed the surrounding areas. The thick black smoke billowing into the air was seen almost in all parts of the city. Over 20 fire tender rushed to the spot, but fire is yet to be doused.”
Due to the fire, several people have become homeless and alternative arrangements are being done for their shelter. It is to be known that the area, where fire broke out, has narrow lanes and it was a difficult task for the fire fighters to reach the spot. Locals are helping the authorities to douse the fire, but citing the risk, they have been advised to maintain a distance.
More details awaited.
