Popular Malayalam film and television actor Ravi Vallathol had passed away on Saturday at his house in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 67 at the time of death and is survived by his wife. He was suffering from age-related illness and stopped doing films and serials because of his health condition.
He was the son of popular writer and drama artiste TN Gopinathan Nair and nephew of legendary poet Mahakavi Vallathol Narayana Menon. He made his acting debut in Mollywood with Swathi Thirunal. In his career of three decades, he acted in over 50 films and television shows. He is known for playing serious and intense roles. Ravi made his television debut with Vaitharani written by his father. He also won the Kerala State Award for the best actor in television series for his role in American Dreams.
His works are Season, Godfather, Chathurangam, Vidheyan, Kottayam Kunjachan, Idukki Gold and many more. Besides acting, he had also written more than 25 short stories.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled Ravi Vallathol’s death and said it’s a huge loss to both the TV and film industry.
