Makar Sankranti is a harvest festival celebrated by Indians. It is set by the solar cycle of the Hindu lunisolar calendar and is observed on a day that usually falls on 14 January of the Gregorian calendar. The festival is celebrated just a day after the festival of Lohri. On this day, sweets are made of jaggery and sesame as well as rice, along with lavish meals.
