According to reports, BJP has won in Dhule whereas Congress-NCP is ahead in Ahmednagar. However, Congress and NCP alliance failed to reach the majority mark and it is likely the Shiv Sena, the second largest party can form the board with the help of BJP.

Around 67 percent and 60 percent voter turnout was recorded respectively in Ahmednagar and Dhule municipal corporations elections.

Apparently, these two prominent cities of north Maharashtra have a combined voter population of nearly eight lakh. While Dhule has 4.46 lakh voters, there are 3.46 lakh voters in Ahmednagar.

In Ahmednagar Municipal elections, Congress-NCP alliance won 25 seats, Shiv Sena 22 seats, BJP 14 seats, MNS 1 seats, Independent 03 and others 07 seats. The Shiv Sena emerged as the second largest party.

In Dhule Municipal elections, out of 74 seats, BJP managed to cross the majority mark and won 50 seats,  followed by Congress-NCP 14, Shiv Sena 2, regional party Lok Sangram 1, MIM 4, and others 3.

It is to be noted that Maharashtra assembly election will be held a few months after the Lok Sabha polls. Shiv Sena has already announced that they will go alone for the assembly polls, while BJP is optimistic of getting its ally on board.
