The nationwide Coronavirus vaccination ride began around two months ago and so far the frontline workers including several politicians and celebs have got their respective doses. Maharashtra government is now planning to impose a new lockdown in the hotspot areas considering the emerging COVID-19 cases. According to the latest updates, the Thane city’s civic administration reveals that around 11areas would undergo lockdowns from March 13 to March 31.
The lockdown orders have been issued by the Thane Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma on Monday and he apparently said that the decision was taken due to the emerging COVID-19 cases in the city. On March 8 morning the caseload of Thane district alone was 2,69,845, including 6,302 deaths.
The hotspot places on the list from the Thane city include Witwa, Ainagar, Suryanagar, Kharegaon area, Chendni Koliwara, Wagle, Srinagar, Lodha Amara, Hiranandani Estate, Hiranandani Meadows Housing Complex and Lokmanya.
Maharashtra state has recorded over 10,000 fresh Covid-19 cases during the last three days span and on Monday it reported a dip as 8,744 new infections. The state government had earlier urged netizens to follow the pandemic guidelines because of the surging COVID-19 cases across the state.
For the unversed, India reported 15,388 new COVID-19 cases, while the recoveries are 16, 596 and 77 deaths were seen in the last 24 hours. This takes the total caseload to 1,12,44,786 and total recoveries surged to 1,08,99,394, while the nation has around 1,87,462 active cases.
