The second wave of the deadly Coronavirus has hit India in the worst manner. On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported 51,880 new coronavirus disease cases and 891 deaths pushed the toll to 71,742, the health department said.

The number of daily Covid-19 infections in Maharashtra has come down in the last few days as from around 70,000 daily cases, the state is recording around 50,000 new cases. On Monday, the city reported 2,624 cases and 78 deaths which were slighter than Sunday when the town had reported 3,629 cases and 79 deaths.
The recovery rate of the state is 85.16 percent and the case fatality rate is 1.49 percent.
Recently, the health minister Rajesh Tope said that 15 districts, including Mumbai, Dhule, Nanded, Bhandara, Thane, Nashik, Latur, Nandurbar, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Amravati, Raigad, Osmabanad, Chandrapur, and Gondia, are seeing a decline in the number of daily cases.
Currently, Maharashtra is under restrictions till May 15, owing to the pandemic in the country. 3,780 people died of Covid in India in the last 24 hours, the highest in a day so far, pushing the total fatalities to 2,26,188.
