Maharashtra Records 3,530 New COVID-19 Cases & 52 Deaths

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported a surge in COVID-19 cases. It has recorded 3,530 new coronavirus cases this takes the total tally to 65,04,147. The state also reported 52 fresh deaths taking the number of total fatalities to 1,38,221.

3,685 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, This takes the cumulative recoveries to 63,12,706 and 49,671 active cases. The recovery rate in the state is 97.06%. The state has 2,96,176 people in-home quarantine and another 1,875 in institutional quarantines.

The cumulative number of coronavirus tests in the state climbed to 5,62,25,304. It had 1,37,190 new tests, the lowest in recent weeks. The health authorities have asked the states to increase the testing numbers.

Mumbai recorded 367 cases and five deaths, taking the tally to 735,767 and toll to 16,033. Further, 28,498 citizens were tested in the city. The daily positivity rate is now 1.28%. The Mumbai civic body has maintained that the period till October 5 is crucial. Due to the ongoing festive occasion, a spike in the number of cases is expected in the coming days. Officials said testing will be ramped up to detect a surge in coronavirus cases as soon as the festive season is over.

India reports 27,176 new COVID-19 cases, 38,012 recoveries, and 284 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Health Ministry. This takes the total tally in the country to 3,33,16,755, with 3,51,087 active cases. Total recoveries stand at 3,25,22,171 and death toll is 4,43,497
