Maharashtra state government recently announced about lifting COVID-19 restrictions from 25 districts, which have shown significant decrease in the outspread. The reports stated that the government is also considering to open the suburban train services for common people and thus there were discussions in the cabinet. It is expected that common people who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to travel through the local trains, however, there was no official announcement about the same. According to the latest reports, MAHA CM Uddhav Thackeray to address the nation at 8 pm today.
Earlier when the government lifted restrictions, it opened public gardens for exercise and jogging purposes only, agricultural activity, civil works, industrial activity, transport of goods which are allowed to function at full capacity, government and private offices(operational with full capacity), shops and malls except essential shops to remain closed on Sundays. It is expected that CM might make announcements about COVID-19 relaxation for other sectors today.
As of by Friday, Maharashtra reported 5,539 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 187 deaths, which took its tally of infections to 63,41,759 and the toll to 1,33,717. The state is now left with 74,483 active cases.
