Pop icon Madonna has revealed that she has tested positive for the COVID-19 antibodies. The La Isla Bonita singer made the announcement in the 14th edition of her Quarantine Diary on Instagram TV.
Madonna’s Quarantine Diary series initially drew criticism for an earlier video where Madonna called coronavirus ‘the great equalizer’ while in her bathtub. The video has since been deleted.
“Took a test the other day and I found out that I have the antibodies. So tomorrow I’m just going to go for a long drive in the car, and I’m gonna roll down the window and I’m gonna breathe in the Covid-19 air. Yup. I hope the sun is shining,” Madonna said.
The singer concluded the video by saying: “Here’s the good news: tomorrow’s another day and I’m going to wake up and I’m going to feel differently.”
In addition, Madonna also shared a few photos of her children Stelle and Estere Ciccone. The photos carried the hashtags “#staysafe” and “#staysane” on them.
As per the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), US, antibody tests are used to determine whether or not a person has been exposed to COVID-19. It does so by finding proteins the body produces to fight the virus. Such tests can help researchers better understand the spread of the virus. However, the CDC has yet to confirm if the possession of antibodies is equal to immunity.
Meanwhile, Madonna also announced earlier in the month that she is donating $1 million to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for its efforts to find a cure for COVID-19.
